Professionals will conduct each workshop and seminar, which includes teachers, aspiring fashion designers, entertainers, artists, and college students and graduates whose goals are to reach today’s youth using positive education to activate constant elevation.
P.E.A.C.E. Production’s seminars and workshops will begin in mid-June at several after school programs. The seminars and workshops primary goal is to reach out to youth homes, youth shelters, youth activity centers, if possible, youth detention centers, churches, and a variety of other organizations where our services are needed. Our main objective will be the provision of service in urban areas.
Below is a list of some of our seminars and workshops that will begin this year. Each one listed in order of importance and based on the time each seminar and workshop will begin.
Tutorial Programs: Tutors will be recruited from area colleges, Universities, and local businesses will be assigned, with approval from parents and teachers, to visit the homes or a “designated location,” to assist those who need help with their studies twice weekly.
Second Sunday: With the less fortunate in mind, “Second Sunday” will be developed to give to those that need help. With the help of area churches, we will designate the second Sunday of each month as the day we will take up food collections of canned goods and non-perishable food items. We will recruit up to 10 churches every three months to participate in the program. A collection box, set up by local youth, will be set up outside of the participating churches every second Sunday for three months. All proceeds will be distributed to shelters and youth homes in the community. This workshop will help teach community awareness and educate on ways to help others.
Short Situation Plays/Imagination Destination: Old materials will be gathered for costumes and different scenes can be performed dealing with a variety of situations and consequences of choices made. This workshop will be focused on making better choices and building leaders of tomorrow. Aspiring screenwriters and college students will write produce, and direct these plays. Rehearsals will be held once a week or more.
Hair Days: Twice a month or more at each designated location, hair braiding and styling will be provided with young girls and young boys can have their hair cut by professional Barbers and Beauticians. Our focus will be to build self-esteem.
Face On: For young girls interested in wearing make-up, this workshop will be teaching how to apply make-up to appear natural and appropriate with age. A former cosmetic professional will be utilized for this workshop twice a month at each location.
Closet Days: This workshop is for all ages and genders. It will be performed by kids bringing clothes from their closet that are no longer worn because of “nothing to wear with it,” or because of being old, and have it stylishly matched by fashion students and fabulously stylish volunteers. This will help with creativity and self-esteem.
**Greek Games - TBD
Future Kids: The objective of this workshop will be to focus on assisting young adults in establishing goals for their future. There will be two aspects for this workshop. Mission One, will focus on motivating young students to attend college and in doing so actively guide them in choosing students to attend college and in doing so actively guide them in choosing fields of study based on their strong points and interests. Secondly, we will help students that have chosen not to attend college. Along with working with them to develop their vocational skills, we will counsel them on job hunting and interviewing skills as well as teaching them how to prepare resumes. A local business owner will help with educating students at this workshop.
Y.E.P.: Youths in Economics and Politics will be formed aimed toward teaching young adolescents about politics and the importance of being aware of current events in the political arena. We also want to teach about investing money, retirement plans, and other aspects of economics. Area businessman and women will be brought in once a month to educate students on affective ways to use their money.
Basic Cooking: Twice a month at each location, basic cooking, including some gourmet meals, will be taught to any youth interested. Once a month a cooking class will be taught on a variety of ethnic cooking. Our focus will be to improve organizational skills, measurement, following direction, and to educate on multi-cultural cooking. A college graduate from a prominent culinary school will teach our basic cooking workshops.
**Short Situation play.
Arts and Crafts: Different arts and crafts projects will be offered at each location three times a month by aspiring artists and college students. Each workshop will focus on positive creativity and allow students to be imaginative.
